I plan on installing one on my 2000 (early version). If Ford's approach to fixing "exhaust flutter" is as effective as their approach to "non-heating-up" -- or whatever -- door lock solenoids, I'm looking forward to this exhaust mod. HA! I have a Gibson cat-back (single) exhaust, K&N cold air filter, Helix throttle body spacer, and big AT tires, so I might not notice any more noise anyway.
I do wonder though, how many people spend good money on a big-pipe free-flow exhaust, and don't realize their Y-pipe is choked down to 1.5"?
Really though, the early version factory Y pipe looks like it was designed by a plumber with a kitchen sink P-trap in mind. It's pretty much a 360 degree loop right off the manifold. Even if I didn't get "all of my 35hp and 3mpg", I think it should help a bit to smooth out the exhaust flow.
Plus, it looks like a fun project to add to the list when I run out of things to do. When I actually get around to doing it, I will let everybody know what I "think" about it.
Have you done anything on your exhaust, in particular the Y pipe, and if so, what results did you get?
Regards,
Don
I have a Flowmaster Y-pipe in place of the necked down style. My mileage is what most get and certainly not 3MPG better.
