removing fuel from tanks

I suspect my fuel tanks have some water in them. I don't want to remove the tanks to drain them, so what suggestions does anyone have to do this? There is maybe 5 to 7 gallons in each one, if I can get most of it out and then use "heet" it should be good enough. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have used clear vinyl tubing that you can buy from the hardware store.
I also used it with a drill(cordless) operated transfer pump.
I took about 22 gallons out of my FSB to replace my sending unit.

The fuel was still "fresh" so I gave it to my neighbor - for his Chebbie - .
I would give your gas to a chebbie guy too!

It depends what kind of setup you have. All my Fords have a mechanical pump that have a metal line on the output of the pump the goes up to the engine, and then connects to the fuel filter via a 5/16" hose. I have plenty of that lying around, so I'd simply disconnect the hose after that metal line and run a length over the engine and out down to a bucket on the ground. Then I would disconnect the coil to keep the engine from firing on the gas left in the carb, and then crank the engine over until all the fuel pumped out of the tank, taking breaks to let the starter cool. I imagine a similar setup can work for EFI setups. Whatever you do, be really careful with an open fuel source and a cranking engine.

My truck has electric pumps in the tank. As I understand it, they won't run unless there is "X" oil psi, so I could ground the sending unit wire to activate the pumps but I don't want to risk pumping a bunch of crap through them. I did a search on siphoning gas, real easy and safe, I will just do that instead.....oh, and I won't put it in my chebbie!
