i was putting in a new fuel pump today but i ran into a problem. the outlet hose from the pump to the carb has a nut on it you loosen to get the line out of the pump. that nut is on really tight and rusted so i cant get it off. ive tried a wrench, channel lock, vice-grips, and a lot of pb blaster. what else can i do. its getting pretty close to being completely rounded.
Are you using a flare wrench? You have to use a flare wrench, otherwise you risk rounding off the nuts. Since you said the nut is almost rounded off, it sounds like you're using an open-end.
ok well i got the old one off. but now im trying to put the new one in and it doesnt seem to want to go in. ive tried turning the crankshaft to get the fuel pump rocker in there but it never gets just right. its always a little off. what do i do? keep turning the crankshaft or is there another way?
ok. so i got it at TDC. you can measure that by also taking off the #1 plug and feeling it yourself or having the rotor at the #1 wire? so then i put the pump in and nthonig still. so then i started thinking about the dual tank selector valve since i have 2 tanks. i pulled the line from the pump to the selector valve, its a 3 port, and didnt feel any suction. there should be suctiin from the pump though right?
ok. i got it running. i took the selector valve off and ran the line from the front tank directly to the fule pump. the rear tank didnt work good anyway.
thanks for the help
