38 Rich, Unless you purchase one of the new aftermarket units you probably will find that nothing will bolt right in without some modifications. I think the thing you will have to check is the length of the column making sure it will reach through the floorboard to hook up. I think a lot of hotrodders use columns out of vans because they are longer. I intend to try and use the original column in my 46 even though it has a mII ifs and 302. I'll have to cut back the outside install some kind of bearing and put a u-joint on the shaft, then figure out how to hook it to the rack. Sometimes you have to be creative.
Thanks for the info.I now have the cross member welded in place and then I am going to install the wheels and all the stuff in between. After that I am installing the engine and trans so I can tell what kind of colum to intsall.First time doing this and it is all good---so far.You are right about things not just bolting togeather, the cross member kit was a good challenge.
Sorry for taking so long to answer your question.
I have a total cost IFS and used a CE trans mount /x member replacement.
This project has taken longer than I anticipated due to large amounts of grinding, and re shapeing the frame parts that were damaged. I have just gotten the crossmember installed and look forward to the front end assembly.
