My sister-in-law was in that mall eating dinner about 5 minuets before that happened. There were freaked out people running into where she works. Kinda makes you think.

Darned shame.

This time of the year. . . holidays, expectations, not wanting to let anyone 'down'.

Stress levels are higher than normal.

I heard this morning that this guy had just lost his job, and was a 'loner'.
His (suicide) note (according to the news radio station) said that he (and I quote here) "Wanted to go out in style."

The holidays are a time to be joyful. . . not full of hate and anguish.

A lot of senseless deaths would have been prevented if responsible citizens were allowed to carry a weapon in Nebraska.

I cannot even begin to imagine the anguish the families of the victims must feel. 8 innocents dead....for being in the wrong place at the perp's wrong time.

He could have just jumped stepped in front of a train if he wanted to hit the news for a couple of days.

i hope none of the victims were children
They were all someone's children...no matter the age.
Absolutely senseless.

Change that to "may have been prevented". We don't know that someone carrying a weapon there would have stopped it. They'd have to be in the area, at the right time, with the willingness to use it. Personally, I wish there had been someone there with a weapon but saying what may or may not have happened is pure conjecture.

Lets change that to...might have seriously increased the odds of someone stopping it.

Another failure of a "gun free zone." When are we going to learn?

32 killed this year alone because of policies that keep law abiding citizens disarmed. Criminals don't care if its illegal to carry a weapon into these areas...that's what makes them criminals.

I think this is more a symptom of people with bogus diseases (ADHD) being on drugs, than of gun free zones. Check out the correlation between many of the school shootings (Columbine for instance) and ADHD drugs.

Again, that is pure conjecture. I'm firmly against gun control and I am a gun owner but I'm also against made-up fake statistics. No one knows who would or wouldn't have been killed by policies. You and whoever made up that number are assuming that had the policy not existed that someone packing a gun would have been at exactly the right place and time in each instance.

Let's not let our natural reaction to be angry and upset over this situation to cloud logic and objectivity --- we are, after-all, reasoning beings and that is what separates us from other animals.
