Did you ever get a fruitcake for Christmas?
Did your ever pass(re-gift) it to someone else?
I may have not ever received a fruitcake as a gift, but I had numerous of knick knack gifts that ended up in a box of forget me nots.
I am sure that I have given my share of disappointing gifts over the years, but it goes to show what happens when consumerism takes over the holiday season.
I wonder if there is only one fruitcake in existence that just keeps getting passed on person to person - year to year?
I just have to say, have a great and safe holiday season to everyone.
I hope you get that fancy doohickey gift thingy that you need to make your truck merry and bright.
yes I have got a fruit cake for Xmas and I have re-gift before, Kinda fun.... If you wate till the next year and give it back to the person that gave the gift to you in the first place LOL, I was going to say send all fruit cakes to Tim, But I would not do that.... Tim's Fruity Enough!
Just send it to me please so I don't have to buy any
My Mom made the best fruit cake of anyone I know ...it was pleasure to eat.
Tons of booze in it, Brandy/Cognac/Rum
My ex-landlord use to make fruitcake every Christmas. She made it is small loaves. When taking it from the oven, she immediately wrapped it in cheesecloth soaked in Rum. She then let it cool and sit for a couple of days allowing the cake to soak the rum from the cloth. Man!! That was some good cake. I love the stuff. She died before I could get the recipe. jd
I have received fruitcake for Christmas only a couple of times. It is common knowledge in our family that all fruit cakes go to my step dad. He loves those things, I dont know why but he is the only one. So every year he ends up with 15+ fruitcakes and you couldnt find a happier person in the world if you tried.

He's NOT the only one - I too love the stuff......and there is an advantage to being the only one in the family who does - I don't have to share!
My mom always used to make a no-bake fruitcake. The "dough" was ground-up graham crackers, dates and raisins to make kind of a paste. Then the gumdrops, whole raisins, dates, nuts and candied fruit were added. Next it was all pressed into small bread tins (as a mold) and then left in a fridge to age for about a month. Yummy.
Wow, I am suprised...I didn't know that anybody actually liked fruit cake...I thought it was just ment to be a gift you give to people you hate...If someone gives me a fruitcake, I'm not their friend anymore...
