New guy,,,just found this board-I have a 2001 Ford Excursion V-10 4WD-Love the thing even though its a gas hog.But hey I can haul the boat and the bikes and pack a ton of kids in it.I've been lookin for info on this tire harmonics stuff you guys are all talking about.I've had a problem with vibration on the highway esp. when I hit the brakes at high speed.I've replace the steering box, shocks, stabilizer, rotors ,calipers and pads but still it persists. My next thought was the steering link-any ideas? Thanks and hello to all-Steve
the guy that did it for me said it wasnt that hard. But the moog greaseables are worth the extra money because they last alot longer. the only different type of maintenance that u have to do is oil the greaseable ones with an oil gun
Thanks for the info-I checked out the ball joints-I put a 2x4 under the tires and I couldn't get any movement outta them.Of course the thing is like a tank anyway-Could they still be bad if I can't move them by hand? I heard they are pressed joints and not something I'd want to tackle at home in the garage.I'm used to doing stuff myself-I already replaced the rotors-that was my first instinct with the vibration-new calipers too after one of my rears was dragging. The steering box is brand new-that cost me like 7 bills-how much am I looking at if I replace the ball joints?
It depends if u do it ur self or not. I did mine a while ago so i cant remember the exact price. But i think i paid somewhere around 130 for parts and my did it for me. Its btter then paying conrads 400 dollars
