Spark/Octane knock?
I've been getting a noise that seems to spark or octane knock. I get it under power usually between 1600 and 2200 rpm. If I use 91 octane gas, it helps but I keep reading about we shouldn't use high octane these engines. I've run some some Seafoam through the vacuum line off the brake booster, twice actually, and that didn't really seem to help. Smoked like a beast for several miles, though. I had this problem about 18 months ago and it went away after I changed all 10 COP's and plugs but it slowly came back. I pulled the plugs last night and they were white. I cleaned them with a wire brush and reinstalled. The knock is still there. I shouldn't need new plugs after 15,000 miles, right? What could be causing this?
