Mine's the same way - I just figured it was because my truck has been washed with a sledgehammer and dried with a pick its entire life... Would love to know how to tighten it up as it is sloppy...

I have a follow up question - even though my inital question wasnt addressed as yet ------would a junkyard column from a E4OD or AOD truck work with the c-6 ...I believe they all have the same detents for P-R-D-2-1 the OD trucks just have the button on the end of the shifter that I could simply not use - it all else works

How about it ? ....sombody out there must have tried this because most well used trucks have this issue.....thanks in advance

hey buffalobob i have great news for you. you don't have to go to the junkyard and pick one up because your shifter isnt broken its just loose. I had the same problem and all it is is that theres a nut in the steering column under the dash that needs to be tightened. All i did was open up the dash and tighten that nut and the shifter was as tight as ever. hope this helps.

Bolts loose, then the bushing are the most things to go bad. The shift tube ,ETC can become worn also.
