hey guys,
first time post on the gas engine side of the fence, so go easy on me. my 96 explorer sport (4.0l v-6) seems to be having a little engine trouble. the engine cranks fine when i go to start it up, but it wont fire unless i give it a good bit of gas while cranking. if i keep my foot in it till it fires, then take my foot off of it, it idles right down to 0 rpm and stalls out. if i keep my foot on the gas, it will continue to run normally until i take my foot out of it again. replacing plugs, wires, and fuel filter tonight. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
cheak your IAC ( IDLE AIR CONTROL) it dose exactly as the name states it controls idle. if its stuck closed than it wont idle. fords are bad for them. and there not that
expensive. it should be around the trotle body some where i can't remember exactly where. it will have a little vavle part on the front of it and a motor on the back of it. it about 6" long.
hey, thanks for the input. ended up being the tps sticking. took it apart and manipulated it a little bit and the truck idles and runs fine now. thanks again.
