I need all the help I can get on this. My grandpa started working on this truck many years ago but passed away shortly after begining this project for my 16th B-Day. Now I have the truck and so far I have put all the parts he had for it now I'm to the piont I need to find parts for a 19 somthin truck as the vin# has been ground off. Please any help would be great. I can mail you pictures as I can't get the pictures to place a link.silver_snake_cs@yahoo.com
When you say the V.I.N. has been ground off, where exactly do you mean it has been ground off?
There are other places on the chassis where the numbers may be able to be read, if there not all rust covered.
The Transmission has the V.I.N. number on it.
Although it may have been changed at on time eliminating that source.
Please send pics to koda06@bellsouth.net.I've had my '52 since I was 16 also.It is just as old as me & also the very first vehicle i drove & owned. How many people can say that .Have nearly $30K in mine .It is way cool.Denny

If you answer this we may be able to give you additional pointers. The truck is most likely a '42, '46 or '47. They were all the same - if you ask for parts for a 46 you'll get the right ones.
Yes 42-46 are the WWII years then in 47 they startede civilian production again hence the problem with finding parts. I've been very successful wit www.macsautoparts.com amd www.dennis-carpenter.com This two places hve also been very helpful with identifying years on other customers trucks as well.. best of luck have fun
Generally, but not always, a '42 has a hood with bolt on chrome Ford script, if the Ford script is stamped in the hood sides, the hood at least, is a '44-'47. Aside from some very minor differences, the '42-'47 is an identical truck. The truck in the picture, judging by just the hood, is a '45-'47. The trucks in '44 were 1.5 ton big trucks, 1/2 tons were not produced again until early '45 as '45 models when civialian truck production was allowed to restart.
