39 ignition
I have a 39 1 1/2 ton with the distributor down in front. I have a 47 1 1/2 ton with the distributor up high. Can I swap the timing covers and use the distributor from the 47 in the 39? Or what else are my options? I am converting to 12 volt also. Thanks

Are you refering to the Distributor that is on an 8BA engine, like 49-53?
Reason I ask is that I done the exact reverse on my 39 Car, and had to change the timming gears as the 8BA engine will force the cam to the front of the engine.
Where as the one you have in your 39, the timming gear will force the cam to the rear.
The gears have a different pitch on them.
Reason I did mine like I did was to have it look like the stock engine, useing 59A heads, and 59A Cam, with the Crab Cap Dist.
It was a 51 8BA Truck Engine, with A 4 inch Merc Crank and double carb intake.
Is your timming cover a 2 or 3 hole one? Either way you could use the 2 hole one and install the Crab Cap Dist, and go with either the Petronix, or Electronic Dist. If you need the spacer plate Dick Spadaro in NY has the adapter plate.
