bed metal

I am working on a 1965 F100. at some point a previous owner had a tool box on it and didn't clean out the leaves and debris that gets under it, leading to a mild case of rust at the front of the bed. I plan on cutting this out and welding new in. I was wondering if anyone makes a bed patch panel for it (I've seen one for 67 up) or if other years will work or do I need to find a donor bed?

Thanks

Donor bed.
A front bed patch panel is one product the vendors really ought to make.

You mentioned that it's only a mild case? If it is not rusted through maybe you could do one of those spray in bed liners, Just a thought.
O Yea Welcome.

I've got a similar problem. The holes that I have in the bed are small (quarter-half dollar sized) and I only have 2 or 3. I'm going to try to make my own patch panels out of some sheetmetal from the rusty door that I have replaced. How hard can it be? Actually, it will probably suck, but I like a challenge. And I'm broke. If it works out, I'll post some pics and descriptions to maybe help other folks out.

I was considering going to the local salvage area and getting a couple of trunk deck lids and doing something similar.

front of bed - patch panel ?

I had the same problem on my 64. I ended up making a panel from sheetmetal. We have a brake where I work. I put up a drawing of a panel in my gallery if you want to take a look. See if it's big enough to fix what you have. Good luck, Phil

I whole heartedly 2nd that one ddavidv....especially the flat parts in the 4 corners...btw, from what Ive been able to surmise, these panels are the same 64-72...I too have the same issue on mine, but fortunately my front wall is good...not perfect, but plenty to weld with...as for the rear panels...can anyone explain why the rear panels always seem to be busted thru in the middle from the crossbrace underneath ??? The only thing Ive figured is overloading or not keeping the mud and muck cleaned out of the area which is the most likely casue IMHO

BTW, If anyone has a bad bed with good corners in the floor Im in need of 3 of them...

I saw some in the catalog for 67-72, but nothing specifically saying it was OK for a '65

If I knew that for sure, I'd order the repair panel http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/0025.asp

Bed floor material ?

Here's a thread from a while back about bed floor material. The pieces in the corner should be easy enough to fab up out of sheet metal as are the under bed ribs.

Still don't see it, Sorry, I find a couple of places in the catalog that show 67-72. I guess I'm overlooking it.
