Intake Manifold

Ive heard that the after market intake manifolds (i.e. edelbrock) dont need all of these smog wires and hoses. Is this true? If so Im definatly getting one, Im tired of all these hoses on my intake manifold, lol.

Be cheaper to just remove the hose, etc. from your present manifold, by a lot too.

If the stock manifold won't without , the Edelbrock won't either.

Edelbrock makes 2 different intake manifolds. One is NON-SMOG for pre-smog years, off-road & racing ONLY, & One is for SMOG ENGINES. So if you have smog you will need a SMOG MANIFOLD to pass smog.

Do you know If you still have to run most or all of the hoses and all the pcv stuff in the smog manifold? Im just trying to eliminate stuff that I really dont need...I hate emissions standards, especially in Calif.

You can't touch anything on your engine in California if you want to pass smog. I dropped my original carb and broke the case. I put an Edelbock on it and it passed the emissions test 30 percent cleaner than the old ford carb did, but the wouldn't pass it because it was modified. I JB welded the old carb back together, put it on and even though it was dirtier than the Edelbrock they passed it. I put the Edelbrock back on as soon as I got home.

If you don't want all of that plumbing on it document how it is ran, (So you don't forget) and then take it all off. When it comes around to smog check time put it all back on, go get it tested and then take it back off. But be warned that if you get stuck by an inspection and they spot it you could be in for some hefty fines.
