Hey guys, I've done some searching but can't seem to find an answer that really states what I'm looking for. I have an F1 steering box, everything seems to be in good shape other then the steering shaft. The threads were the nut goes on that holds the steering wheel was all bashed up, someone before I got the box tried to pull the steering wheel and since they couldn't get it off they beat the threads all up on the shaft.
What I'd like to know is there a way to remove the worm from the shaft and if so who sells just the shaft? I looked on Mac's and I see the worm but I don't think it comes with the shaft. I also did some searching online and found the worm and shaft together but if I can I'd rather just buy the shaft or have one made to fit the worm.
What I'm asking is can the worm be removed from the shaft and who sells the shaft alone? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The shaft and worm are usually sold as a unit, try Mac's, Joblot, Sac Vintage.
Also get the bearings and other goodies ND mentioned above.
Oh, and if you dont have one, the Service Manual.
