2005 F150 Breakin/Robbery

a bud of mine called today. his F-150 Screw was burglarized in Atlanta, Ga. They even locked the doors back, and no visible sign of how they got in.So how did they get in? he only noticed his seat was moved.

Simply pry the top of door at the rear. Coathanger to hit the "unlock" button. No damage. Push the lock button prior to leaving. No visable sign of entry.

im sure they threw a rock through the window, and then replaced it when they left.... just kidding... it isnt too hard to get into a vehicle these days. i have locked my keys in before, and i definatly use caution when "breaking in" so i dont break/dent/scratch anything. and it just seems wierd that the only way he noticed was his seat was moved.... why would someone break into it and not steal anything... whay would the move his seat if they hadnt driven the truck? kinda fishy.

They got a Para-Ord P14/45 pistol. Nothing else. they must have hit the auto seat switch.

The interior door lock buttons deactivate shortly after its shut off, at least mine do. Could be some model variations though.

A couple years ago, I was out with some buddies at the lake. Our driver (01-02-ish F250) lost his keys (no alcohol was even involved!). Late at night, no one around for miles, we had to use the resources at hand. I unscrewed the radio antenna, cut the ball off the end with a pair of pliers, bent it into a J hook and fished around inside the door for a minute or so until I saw the lock jiggle. From there, it was just a matter of 20-30 seconds until I found the right angle to pop the lock.

If kids want into a car, they would smash a window or something, if pro thief wants into a car, it would probably slow him down if he actually had to use a key!

Most thieves are as good if not better than most locksmiths.
You can get a decient lockout kit that wil easily get you into most cars for about 50-80 bucks and then with some practice your set.

I usually don't believe that an alarm will do much good anymore, just give them another hoop to jump through. I took my old car to a parking garage, stood in the stairwell and set off the alarm, had about 25 people walk by and about 10 min pass before someone even gave the car a hard glance to see if anything was going on. If they want your car or whats in your car bad enough they will get it and there isn't much you can do about it.

Really?? What year is your truck? Mine is a 2004 Screw FX4. That would put MY mind much more at ease if my truck does the same thing. I am going to test this theory. Next lunch break I take my truck to work (don't drive it everyday anymore thanks to gas prices)...I am going to start it, shut it off...and wait until the radio kills itself...thats about, what, 5-7 minutes usually I think...then try to unlock the doors using the unlock button on the door and see if the truck will let me out. I hope it doesnt actually.

I guess I'm not following the logic here? You are worried if the unlock button inside the truck quits working after the truck is shut down? Maybe I'm missing something, but what difference does that make?

I guess you could use it to lock someone in the truck if you could get them to hold still for 5-7 minutes, but for keeping people out, it's not like thieves are using the interior door lock.

IIRC, there are some settings as far as enabling and disabling some of the automatic locking features.

He better report the gun missing, along with the info on it (serial #,etc.) because if the gun is used in a crime and it isn't reported stolen, all the evedince points straight at your friend.

Actually, in my fire dept. we use a plastic wedge we put between the top of the door and the body, slide a bar inside and hit the unlock switch. If a company has something like that(lock deactivation) it is a very good safety feature(against theft), just bad for us(fire depts.)!!

Well we got the surveillence video form the Hotel. Everybody is wrong, yes every method mentioned will work. But the crooks know the simpliest and we actually found the entrance marks today. Well i'm not going to tell how it is done(we tried it, it works) in fear of informing the wrong minds. but if you have a 04' or newer don't leave anything of value inside, the F-150 is doomed. Lynn
