ok all, first off, thanks again to anyone who offered tips/tricks/advice/opinions, etc. i love the sound the SISO kit offers. it took about an hour to install at my house. this with my Edge really makes this a different truck. i wonder now how much HP i would expect to see if i dyno'd it, with the Edge set on level 2 without any custom tunes (im afraid of grenading my engine if i customize it.... i dont know quite enough to tinker that much ).
and for anyone how is considering installing one of these kits..... i thought i would pass along a trick i used..... and that was to completely unbolt the stock hanger brackets from the truck, and then remove the stock unit all in 1 piece. it makes it much easier to get the hanger mounts off the posts without it being bolted under the truck. also, i lowered my spare tire, and jacked up the pass rear side and it gave lots of room to fish it out.
while i was looking at the system, something came to mind. i was wondering about the tip.... well, it appears just to be a cosmetic thing, since the pipe runs through the center until about 1 inch from the end of the tip..... what if i used a cut off tool, and cut the center pipe off a few more inches back? wouldnt that help with a little rumble as well? i know that i used to have 3.5" x 18" tips on my dodge, and it sounded great. is this a normal thing for magnaflow? is it on purpose for some reason, or is mine just a fluke in the manufacturing process?
If you cut the pipe off a little it might change the note some. But if you give it about 2500 miles to break in you will notice that it will get louder. I have the SIDO and it sounds noticeably louder now that it did when I installed it. I love it.
thanks.... i will let it break in and see what happens. i think its sweet spot is between 2000 and 2500 rpm..... it really does sound sweet. and coupled with the edge, i am very happy with both.
