Well finally got around to having this installed by my local Cole Muffler. New I was in trouble when I saw them fire up the torch.
Took them about 2 hrs because they said the tailpipe hangers were pretty much useless where magnaflow put them and they mounted it themselves with 2 clips they welded on the tailpipe and bolted it up. They also replaced the piece right before the 18" and muffler said it was bad. Total cost 100 bucks.
I got it home and did some measuring and the right side was about 3/4 lower than the left.
Well got the tools out and adjusted it myself and got it pretty close. All within 1/8 of an inch on the height and the centering from hitch so both sides are pretty equal now.
Tips are about a 1-1 1/2 below bumper and stick out past the bumper about the same. Is everyone else's setup like this and is yours pretty symetrical from the bumper and hitch when looking at it from behind?
Happy with the sound!! No radio yet. Nice sound at WOT, heard it will only get better. No Drone.
Check out my gallery, I've got the same exhaust. Took me awhile to get it lined up, but I think it looks pretty good. You got a good price on install. Most of the shops in my area wanted about twice that knowing that it's a PITA to get lined up!
I think your shop might be incompetant...or wanted more money. I did this install on the ground in my driveway and had 0 issues witht he 16614 kit. My only install issue was that I didn't know you had to clock the OEM muffler 90 degrees to release the keyed section.
I've had the exhaust installed for 13,000 miles now and I've done 1 road trip of 5,000+ miles...no issues at all, and the alignment is the same as the day I installed it.
Man, that shop sold you a bill of goods and did a crappy job to boot. When I installed the 16614 on my 04 F150, by myself in the driveway, no welding, fabrication, or cutting was needed. The pieces all fit just like they should have. I did change the rear hanger location to the outside of the frame rail by drilling and tapping holes for the bolts that came in the kit. I did that to make them easy to remove later, in case I wanted to replace the system. I removed it and put the stocker back on when I traded the truck and it came off in great shape.
