Don't know what modifications are involved, but I've seen a few early 80's style Broncos wearing a late 80's to early '90s front clip('87-'91 style).There are a few aftermarket companies that offer fiberglass pieces in both the '87-'91 & '92-'96 styles to fit the earlier models,too.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Aug-02 AT 07:39 PM (EST)]you have to use your wiring. the lower fender mounting holes are different. you also have to use the cowl for the front end you are using. the head lite and park lite plugs off the later front end will have to be spliced onto the older harness. look in my gallery under my projects, 81 truck, 87 front clip.

I have also seen it done once. The person that had it done had unlimited money supply though. He had a 1991 Silver Anniversary and changed it to a 92 front end the next year because he like it better. I have no idea about what was involved jsut that it was done.
