Ok i got my bronco running but it runs like garbage. I have to step on the gas pedal to get it to run at all and when it does start it runs horrible and if i let off the gas it quits. I replaced the ect and act because i got codes for them and now i get a system pass code 11 with a koeo test. My buddy was helping me and he was outside the truck while i was starting it and he said it was smoking black out the tailpipe. and i should probably mention that i put a new engine in it with different cam and valve springs, found that fpr was pumping my engine full of gas. Would the engine full of gas have wrecked any sensors, or could there be gas in places there shouldn't be causing the thing not to start? Help if you can or have had a similar problem. I'm trying to get this thing running in my spare time so i can make it my daily driver and sell my 03 Ranger due to not being able to afford the payments. I really need to get it running and i'm coming up short on everything i check. I don't want to start throwing sensors at it but could the icm, o2 , or map sensor be the culprit? This thing had a blown motor when i bought it so i'm just starting to find out all the previous problems it had and it is hard to figure it out when it doesn't run good enough to idle.
Is the cam a 5.8 or 5.0 firing order? Did you double check your plug wires (they're easy to cross). Check for vacuum leaks in your lines. If it won't run reliably you'll need a vacuum pump and to check each color coded line individually in the vacuum harness. The hard lines get brittle and can br cracked inside the wrap. 2 digit fault codes so it sounds like an 86-92. Did you put a fuel pressure gauge on it to check the actual pressure? If it sat for years the return line may be obstructed causing the fuel pressure to be too high. Good luck
