What would you guys consider to be the best annual Ford truck show/swap meets in Indiana, Ohio, New York or Pennsylvania? I live in Southern Ontario and would like to plan some road trips for 2007.
My dad and I attend an annual swap meet for tractors and antique engines in Portland, IN, every May and we never miss the Tri-State show at the same location in late August. Any good shows in that area around the same time of year?
I know what you mean. We don't dare give up our motel room for the Portland show or we'll be sleeping in the truck. We always book for the next year before we leave for home.
Carlisle has good shows; that Ford truck show is probably the best for parts; it's also just 2 weeks usually after the Supernats, which is neat. June 1 to 3 this year is the days posted on the Carlisle site, www.carsatcarlisle.com, but it actually opens a day earlier.
You can usually get late reservations in Mechanicsburg, which is only about 10 miles East of Carlisle. Fridays and Saturdays are usually really, really crowded there. It is normal for cars to be backed up on the Pa. Turnpike those mornings. Being an earlybird, I usually catch the opening day, Thursday, May 31st this year. That way you get first pick of all the swap parts.
If you don't mind going across or around Lake Michigan, try the Dash to the Dells in Wisconsin Dells. It will be the 18th annual Dash and the 4th annual Unofficial Panel Truck Nationals and will be held in mid September. Watch Truckin magazine for feature soon. I have always wanted to go to Carlisle. Have started out twice and always get to my little brothers in Colorado and there is a death in the family or some other thing. My 62 and me will be there some day. Went to Sturges once but was in an MGB roadster and the seats on the bikes was window high. Was a lot of fun anyway. If I don't make Carlisle, The 62 will one day with one of my grand kids in it. Trying to talk my brother into bringing her up this year. Grand Junction Colorado to there wont be that bad at all.
