Hey all, my 57' is finally on the home stretch. Finally got it painted and am currently having one of my students put the lettering on the doors. Check it out in my gallery.Still got alot to do, but since the paints done it should go fairly quick. Hope you all like it.
Got to love that 57 grille; looks sharp, very well detail, can't wait to see it all done. And I will adventually get to my 59. Great looking stance and color combo.
More Pics Please! I love your truck. It caught my attention when looking for pics of '57-'60's. I'd especially like some details on the front end drop. What mono-leafs and drop axle did you use? It has a killer stance.
How much clearance do you have between the axle and the oil pan?
Finally, more pics of your engine. Honestly, your truck is really impressive. Check out the HAMB some time. I know the guys on there would love to see your truck. It's on point with what goes on there.
Thanks for the kind words all. I took some pictures of the engine compartment, and uploaded em' to my gallery, it's a standard 292 nothing special, Sanderson Headers, and an Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, all else is stock.
DirtyTace, the front mono leafs are from Classic Performance in Orange County, Calif., they are the 4.5" drop springs, it has the stock axle in front. The truck actually sits level, the tire combo actually give the truck the stance that it has, no lowering blocks in the rear I did a flip kit and C-notched the frame and removed 4 leaf springs from the stock 7. I put an airbag helper system in the rear to help when I put a load in it.
As for the oil pan to axle clearance I actually had to use a front sump pan from a car, the rear sump actually hit the axle when the suspension was compressed, the car pan actually cleared, all I had to do was shave about 3/8" deep X 2" long in the axle to clear the drain plug, everything clears nicely and nothing even gets close to touching. And my question, what is HAMB, I've never heard of it, is it a website?
Yes, the HAMB is a message board for traditional hot rods. Your truck has the flavor. Since you're not into the "rat rod" tag, I think you'll fit right in. Judging from the quality of your work, you "get it". Here's the link:
Check it out, do an intro, and then post some pics. I know the guys will love your truck. It has an eclectic mix of people but they all have a passion for traditional styled hot rods.
Thanks for the info on your drop. I'm suprised it's that low in the front with just the springs. It looks like you have a short tire up front. What's the specs on your front/rear tires. I think your gallery said they were on 16" rims?
I have a '60 that I'm dropping. I did the axle flip and c-notch in the rear. I was waiting on the front to find out the best method.
