Liners in springs

Does anyone have pictures of their leaf springs with the teflon liners installed? How about pictures of the teflon buttons installed?

Charles!

Great to see you're still out there!

No pics but I used the poly liner between my leaves. It has a H shape to it with the center bar elongated (obviously) and the verticals about 3/16 tall. The verticals keep the liner in place so it doesn't creep out from between the leaves. If the leaves are painted black (like mine), the liner really isn't noticable at all. If your springs are drilled for buttons - a lot easier to install than the buttons.....

The visibility is the issue. I don't want to see them. Maybe someone has pics or could posts some. I'm glad to here you say that they are not very visible.

I have tried to be more active several times but I keep getting side tracked. I just put up a 10x14 and 10x8 metal shed to get all the non 57 stuff out of my double wide garage. I'm hoping that I can soon resume work on the 57. I'm finishing the shelves this weekend.

Are you running without fenders, Darkman? I can't see the problem with the appearance of spring packs. I don't notice mine. Maybe you need to take a "larger" view.

Of course I have MII front and monos in the rear, so what do I know?

Little things bother me which is why it has taken me forever to get so NON far. I don't know if it will bother me since I have never seen them and that is why I'm hoping someone can posts pics.

When I put these in I could only find find white liners. Speedway now has black ones that would be less visible.

Thanks, I can see where the black ones would be less visible. Yours do not look like an elongated H are they or are they just a channel.

Thanks I need to see some button installations to make a final decision I guess. RMF was talking about the H pattern. I guess depending on who you buy it from is how it comes.

If you look at the pictures of my springs you can see a round bulge near the end of each spring. The orignal installation had buttons that fit into those bulges, you cannot see them at all. They lubricate less and the springs can stll make a little sound when moving. But you cannot see them at all. You can likely get the buttons from a spring outfit. Unfortunately, there is not one near me.

Fergy, where did you buy your spring liners?

C4DZ-5586-A Insert, Spring Anti-Squeek "Plastic"

Ford makes several versions. The above part number was used in F Series Trucks for many years. The book does not list the size, but as I recall they are around an inch or so square. The number above replaced an earlier number.

You might check with your local dealer, most used to carry these.

Walston,

A local shop that specializes in suspension work on big trucks and trailers.

$20 for 50 feet of it.

Charles,

Unlike Walston's, mine is an elongated "H" not an elongated "U" .I should have mentioned that I painted mine after I re-assembled them.

Later,

Mid Fifty sells the channel design and says to install it with the edges facing down. This is to eliminate the possibility of dirt .getting caught in the lip of the channel and working down into the springs. If that is possibility, then the H design would be a possible problem.

That sounds reasonable and is a good reason to use the buttons.

How do you install the channel on 48 F-1 leaves? Is it just the tip or full length?
