renwall visible V8 model kit...ever see this thing?
I was looking thru an old magazine that a friend of mine gave me...
and I seen this thing in it... its a model of a V8 engine, and you hook a battery pack up to it and the starter makes the whole engine move, lifters, pistons, cranks...and its see thru so you can see it doing it...
the article i was reading said they expereinced the lift rods catching up on the valves, so they sanded them smoother and use vasoline on them LOL
the magazine said this model kit came out in 1962... just looked on ebay if there was any for sale and they are fetching $300 for a complete kit not already put together...
that model got me thinking so i looked into any model kits being offered nowadays... and Revell makes ford, chevy , dodge engine models, but they dont move... still very cool looking...
not sure what kind of engine it is suppossed to be might not be any kind with that funky looking intake manifold on it LOL... the valve covers look chev-ish..think in 62 the engines probably looked different than stuff in the 70's when i started...
the distributor on the renwall also has wires going to the plugs and they flash a little light like a spark plug sparking
fomoko... yeah i didnt see anything like a 302 when i was looking at the revell website... just incase anyone gets confused like i did... renwall and revell are two different companies, not a mispelling of the same one
I was wondering how much it would take to produce something like the moving V8 engine nowadays... I know casting plastic is fairly cheap and easy once you have the investment (or original mold)...

The Y block had a funky intake too, and had alot in common with Chev motors in some ways, including valve cover arrerance.
I remember seeing those models in Kresgies dept stores in Red Deer when I was a Kid .
They were awesome. They used to have all kinds of cool toys. Like the old wind up bush planes on floats lol. Ahh to be 12 again.
well model building looks like something i can do in the winter months... and the real thing in summer/spring/fall
thats cool fomoko... i just recently realized they even made engine models, ive seen cars and stuff, but didnt know there was enough of a market to sell engine models... although I would be part of that market
Yep, started to make my own mounts. Well i shouldnt say totally new . After recieving the new mounts from walkers i found out that they are just a cover for the old ones and they are made of very thin metal Arhhh. So i went and got some 14 gauge plate steel and in the process of reinforcing my old original mounts. Will be using 1/8 steel on the bottom where the rubber mounts to the frame . It should be just a little bit stronger than the previous owners water tank sheet metal lolol. Replaced the passenger side floor with a piece of floor from my 67 cab and used 14 gauge for the rest of the patch job. Floor is very solid now. Last night i was welding and ran out of wire arhh. got my future son inlaw to bring me a new roll of wire and were going halfers on a new miller elite series helmet. yee haww He can get it for 300.00 bucks in Lloyd. All i got to do is some welding on his snowmobile lol.
There are a couple of recently released see through motor kits. the ones i know of are mad by Testors. i have yet to build one, but in a magazine i subscribe too, their was detailed review of a build up of a 426 Hemi see through, it turned out to be a pretty good kit. the only letdown was the sound card that is included
