Just as I was about to put the petal a little closer to the metal I noticed two Saskatoon city cops sitting in a nice white Crown Vic with radar. Needless to say I didn`t feed the bears this time, somebody up there was on my side today.
I have been very lucky in the last 20 some years when I have been clocked going abit over the speed limit a couple of times by sympathetic RCMP and given verbal warnings. For the most part I have never encountered bad RCMP officers, always a class act.
On the other hand my wife who doesn`t make a habit of speeding got her first ticket by a local county mountie-a municipal cop-3 years ago just down the road from our farm. He was rude and demeaning mouthy individual on an ego trip.
my professor was telling me, when he was in his teens, and speeding tickets were something like 40 bucks,( they were cheap, 40 doestn sound right, but its close) he was averaging about $3500 a year paying tickets, just speeding tickets, nothing else. the speed limit sounds just fine to me.....
Yes when I first started to drive tickets were around 35 and 40 dollars. They at that time seemed high, but today they are in the hundreds. So they do hit harder today than 30 years ago.
Hey Fom, I had the same feeling yesterday on Millar ave. in the afternoon. I noticed I was doing 70 in the 50 zone and started slowing down, about 5 blocks later I was down to 59 when I went by the white crown vic. A little jump in the heart rate and some sweat there, but they never stopped me.
The last time I was stopped and ticketed was by a municipal cop as well. He was rather full of himself. Same as Fom, the RC's that I've come in contact with were usually pretty good. Brandon city police, maybe not so much.....
It was on on Millar Ave., it`s common for them to be at there just past the RR tracks and that is why I was carefull. Last year they almost got me with the 67 Mustang, I was about to drop the hammer and there they were. I think I would be walking for a quite while.
I have been fortunate, I don't recall running into a bad cop, most of them have been quite professional. As for cost I think the last one was around $200 for doing 70 in a 50 zone on my motorcylce.
Mustang I saw a commercial that was a hoot on the new Mustang. Police pull the guy over for speeding. Anyway the commercial starts with a police car pursuing the mustang an dthen comes to a stop. A cop gets out of the stang and gives keys to the other cop. In the back of the cruiser is the owner of the stang. Handcuffed. The cop says just one more quick spin.
Man that was funny. I don't think it was aired here. I sawit online.
