4.9l straight six in a 47

I am building my 47 1/2 ton and plan on putting in a 300 straight six. Has anybody here ever done this? I'm assuming that the mounting arms will have to be fabricated. Is there a company that makes them? Or could someone give me some pointers on how to go about doing this?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

I considered the 300 six for my truck but went with the four banger instead.

It seems like the F150 frame was pretty close in width to the 46 frame. I would measure one at a salvage yard, if it's close you could just cut the motor mounts out of the newer truck and weld them into the 46 frame. I don't think it was more than an inch or so off, so you should be able to add some metal to the mounts or cut them down before welding them in in order to make them fit.

I would like to see how this fits if you get it done. Please post pictures in your gallery. The 300 is a great engine it only missed being in my truck by a couple hundred dollars.

I think your forewall is going to have to be modified to clear the huge bellhousing and longer engine, but it sure would be a great truck when finished.

I put a few pics up in my gallery. I plan on installing the motor and tranny next week. I need to install the rear axle also, which requires me to move the spring perches. Hopefully if everything goes well it will be a complete rolling chassis by the end of next week.
