Yes, my understanding is that the rear fenders, box, tail gate and so on are all the same on stepside pickups from '53 to '72. Although I remember reading somewhere that on the later trucks, the fenders were not mounted at the same height, but I cannot confirm this.

After 56 the running boards were shorter, I have a 65 bed on my 54 and I had to have the holes on the rear finders welded close and drilled down lower to match my running boards.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Feb-02 AT 00:48 AM (EST)]The fenders are the same. However, the box sides changed at some point after '56 and the fender mounting holes are around 1 3/4" higher on the later models. I've got one of those later model short boxes that any one can have if they want to come and get it.
I used a set of fenders from a 77 or 78 short-bed on my 56 and they worked fine. The only modifications required were drilling a new set of holes (3) for the running boards, welding up the upper set and patching the hole for the gas filler neck.
Look inside the fender where it mates to the running board. Mine have a "doubler plate" with two sets of holes. The upper set of holes go through the fender, but the lower set do not. The lower set is used for 53-56 trucks with full length running boards. In 57 the boards were shortened (did not extend forward of the back of the cab) and moved up about 2".
