I've been rewiring my 1955 panel and have gone to a 12volt system. I've followed the original schematic for a 1956 truck. It is now a neg. ground battery with a voltage reducer off ACC. ignition post to go 6volt for gauges (original 6volts). I want to run the starter button in time. At this time I have a new starter(12volt), new 12volt battery, new grounded starter relay(12volt) new ignition switch with starter switch for a 56(12volt) new 12volt coil with resistor and all new wires. I've followed the wiring for a 1956 diagram exactly. I've checked for possible "bad" new parts and they all come back as good. It's all clean, new and tight but I can't even get the starter relay to give me a click... Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?? or is there a good post to help me out?
Start at the battery with a test light to make sure you have power. Then make sure you have power to the switch and then thru the switch. To your starter button and on to the starter relay. I'm by no means an expert, but it sounds like a bad connection somewhere.
SpyFoxx maybe right, have you made sure you have a good ground to the body of truck. Just having a ground at the engine in most cases does not work because of the mounts being rubber. It may sound silly but the simple problems can be the hard ones to find.
