After a year of sitting, I finally started my 47

My buddy convinced me to rent a garage with him for the winter so we can work on our trucks and having the garage has motivated me to get to work. Of course I am on a tight budget so I am being as cheap as possible but it shoudl still come out pretty well. I'm not going for a full resto because the truck frame has been shortened and it no longer has the flat head engine. I'm shooting for more of a rat rod truck that will turn some heads. We've had the garage for about 3 weeks now and I've managed to remove the front clip, the engine and trans, and rebuild the front end while swapping out 5x6.5" hubs with 5x5.5". Next thing to do is the rear end. The 2-ton banjo rear end that is in it now isn't going to cut it.

It's good when you get that "motivation-feeling". I finally (after 30+ years) have started on my '36 that was given to me when I was 14 or 15.

Good Luck!

you weren't kidding when you said the frame had been shortened. Looking good though!

I've been doing pretty good keeping up with it. As of now I have the new rear end in. The leaf spring perches can't be welded until I get the pinion angle right. I also have the tranny mount in. I got a c4 tranny mount from LMC for a 53 ford and had to modify it to fit. Now I just have to fabricate some motor mounts. Some more motivational pics for you guys.
