1. My tach doesn't work when engine is at idle but will resume working as soon as I soon as I step on the pedal a little.
2. The overdrive light flashes when the tach isn't working but goes out as soon as the tach goes back to working.
Is this indicative of a problem with FIPL?
3. I just recently began to notice that at idle and at low throttle that I smell a very strong smell of diesel, like I am running too rich. The fuel pump is original to the best of my knowledge and has never been turned up. The truck is harder to start than normal. Could these two issues be related? Any ideas?
The problem with the tach is probably due to a failing tach sending unit, near the oil filler... two wires to one connector..they fail a lot.. Also the od light flashing is due to the fact your not getting engine speed input to your processor... its going into fail safe for the trans.. Need to fix your tach sometimes removal and cleaning help but not for a long time..
