Easy one, 1992 wheels

Would a set of wheels that came off of a 2002 F250 fit a 1992 F250?

Don't think so. According to what I've read, the 92 should be 8 lug on a 6.5" (165 mm) bolt circle. The 2002 should be 8 lug on a 6.7" (170 mm) bolt circle. They are just different enough that they won't fit.....

If I remember right, 1999 and up are 8 x 170 mm lug pattern.
1997 and down are 8 x 6.5" lug pattern.

So then what are 1998s? I thought it was a clean break. 1997 and down 6.5" and 1998 and up 6.7"....

Never seen a 98 F250 or F350.

They were retooling the factory for the body style change, the few trucks made in 98 were sold as 99's.

Really? So they completely skipped a year on one of the best selling vehicles ever built? WOW! That must've hurt....

I have a friend that had a 1999 F350, built in June of 98.
Purchased in August of 98, titled as a 99.

Skip the big inventory clearance sales and there were plenty of trucks to be sold.

Not that anybody here would care, but there was no 1996 Jeep Wrangler for the same reason.

Yup, I knew that (note my screen name )

However, the Wranglers were never the bread and butter vehicle for Chrysler that the F-series trucks were (and still are) for Ford....

Did ford make extra 97's, because I remember seeing some new ones on the lot in may 1998 usually you don't see that or at least that many of them.

Since there were no 98 trucks, they did not have the usual year end clearance sales they normally have.
Since all the trucks were sold at full price, I do not think the dealers or Ford was hurting for truck sales. Also the 99 model was released much earlier than usual.

Interesting....

Back to Oil-Jockey's question, the good news is that the newer Dodge and Chevy wheels are still 8 lug on 6.5" circle, so they'll still fit your truck. I almost bought a set of blingin' chromed slotted Chevy rims for mine. Looked at 'em one Saturday, and the guy quoted me $100 for 'em. Went back to get 'em the next Saturday and he'd already sold 'em to someone else. So I bought a set of white 8 spoke "wagon wheels" from him for $60 instead
