I'm getting closer to driving this thing again after three years. I've run all new fuel lines from the tank to the carb, new pump and filter as well. The tank was mostly empty all that time, so I plan to slosh some B12 in it and call that good.
The carburetor is where I have problems. Looking at my shop manual I realized that the accelerator pump lever is broken! The connector rod for it jsut dangles and the plastic(?) arm is no where to be seen. So I have three questions:
1) where can i get the accelerator pump lever? Junkyard and fleabay come to mind first.
2) what is the model number of my carburetor? 1960 223 6 with a one hole Holley. Here's some numbers I pulled from it on the driver side:
12R
1958
and the passenger side:
B26, this could also be 338 or some other combination of those characters;
and on the bottom with all the patent numbers:
6R - 1545 B
Which of these is the important one?
and 3) where can I get different jets for this carb? Are they the same as some other model of Holley?
Well, to be honest it sounds like your carb. is past the point of repair. If it's the one
I'm thinking of, a single barrel Holley. Places like Macs Antique Auto Parts have new/rebuilt one for around $150 with your core. You might also find one through a local Napa parts store. Hope this helps.
For the trouble to rebiuld one just call NAPA and buy another one I bought mine for less than a hundred bucks and the core. and it fired right up drive it everyday no problems.

I'm considering that after finding the hosed accelerator pump. You remember which part number to use? I guess I'll just drag it in there with me.

On a 1960 F-100 with a 223, U should have a stock Holley 1904.. I had One on my 223.. easy carb to rebuild.. I ended up replacing mine with a Holley 5051 2bbl progressive carb.. man did it make a big difference in gas mileage and performance.. And it was a easy change to do..
