54 Gene--I dono? on how many were Made? but the Vin Number is on the Drivers Side Frame Rail-just Forward of the firewall--between the firewall & the Steering Box--it will start as a STAR--followed by Numbers--& End also w/ another STAR!--& the number can also be Found on the Transmissions Bell Housing! just Above a All most Square Inspection Cover!--hold On by Two large Screws--& when 100 % Stock--Both Number were the SAME!--the VIN & Tranny!--& it the Trannies Differant? the Trannies been Changed! & if? Your Attempting to Register It? & can*t SEE! the Numbers on the Frame Rail?--Use the Numbers on the Bell Housing!--for VIN ID purposes! as the Frame Numbers DO get Pretty Rusty & hard to SEE!--but The Trannies Cast & is Protected by the Body--& a Lot Easyer to SEE!-I Hope this HELPS?--Ole JIM--
