I have an 89 f150 with the 6 and a 4speed. This is my first truck, but I don't think I can keep it much longer. The floorboards are rotting, and I can't repair these as they need to be done. I don't have the skill or the money. I patched them to get it past PA inspection, but it's not a good job.
163K miles; A/C comp pulled, it died along with it's clutch; needs pressure plate, and would rebuild tranny while it's out; typical bed rot, but no clear holes yet; floorboards; Suspect tranny and motor mounts; small tears in seat, padding shot; needs front driver axle half, u joint shot.
the good: rain gutters have no rust, are sealed; no rust on doors or tailgate; cb on overhead shelf, no visible wires; cap with interior light; bedliner; trialer hitch; 4x4; carpeted floor and storage bin in bed; new speakers; slider on truck and cap.
What should I do? I'm far too **** retentive to fix it, but I hate to sell it. IF I do sell, how much do I ask? I'm looking for opinions and advice.
I know this is the engine forum, but this is the audience I trust most. It also seems to be the one that will go to any length to keep a 6 on the road.
Thank you all.
Is this truck your daily driver? You said this is your first truck, are you young? What im getting at is if you live with your parents and can get away with driving theyre vehicle while having your project truck. If not then i say sell it, without hesitation. Unless, of course, your loaded.
25, just bought a 98 f150 extended cab long bed on the first of july (mainly because of a/c and clutch). Can't work on a truck and drive it too. 53k miles, 3/4 ton springs, auto, 4x4. love the third door, hate the lack of hubs, miss my stick. 5.4 gets around 13 MPG, was pulling 15 with the straight6. I want it to be my daily, and will use it despite problems in the snow.
I work for an arborist, so I end the day covered in dust, sap, and sometimes mud, and HATE getting in such a nice truck. Gravel parking lot. tons of dust.
