Model BB Original Price and Top Speed?

Hey folks,

Sorry to bother you like this, but I'm striving to find basic info. on commercial vehicles in the mid-1930s because my hobby and passion is researching aspects of life in the 1930s. One thing I know next to nothing about, however, is period-appropriate trucks, hence my coming here to ask for help.

Would it be possible for anyone to supply any of the following information, please? I'm looking for the original cost/price when released, and top speed (mph) of the Model BB truck. Also, what Ford pickup was available in 1936, and does anyone know its years of manufacture, basic engine type and bhp, payload, speed, and original price when released, thank you?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

cheers!
Colin

Model BB, depnding on it's configuration, was about $590 for the 157 inch W.B. four cylinder cab and chassis, there was also a 131 1/2 inch pickup that was about $645. Various models went for various prices depending on wheelbase, and body type. Top speeds were fairly low, I would say in the 45-55 range.

1936 was a basic carryover of the '35, just minor details of change, the hood side emblem was moved forward on the hood. Engines for '36 was limited to the 85 horse flathead V8. Top speed was right about 60-65 or so...well, at least that what seems safe, more than that sometimes seems to really strain engine. I don't have the payload, but the truck weighed 2852 lbs empty. As a side note, it was in '36 that Ford built their 3 millionth truck.

Hope you can use some of this info.

46fordtruck, that's all exactly what I was looking for, and is immensely useful in satisfying my curiosity and giving me a better understanding of those period elements. Thank you very much indeed.

cheers!
