fresh from the pasture

Just picked this up yesterday. Anyone know exactly what year it is and where to find the vin? I dunno what I'm going to do with it just yet. It was one of those deals you just can't pass up. The last owner bought it in 1979 intending to do a father/son resto. Before they got around to it, the family moved to Alaska and left the truck with family. From what I was told it ran and moved, and even was stolen from the feild it was being stored in. They found it a few months later with a blown sheded tire stuck in a field. They towed it back to where I picked it up. Ufortunatley, some jack@$$ thought it would be neet to shoot the windows out of it from the road! All in all, it's pretty solid and complete. It has the flat head V-8 and 3spd(?). The motor may have been rebuilt since it's all clean and painted a later bright blue. What do you guy's think?

yep it's a 41. The vin is on top of the drivers side frame rail, just in front of the firewall. It is actually in two other places as well, but they can't be seen without removing the body. The vin on my truck was unreadable. If I didn't already have a title with the right numbers on it, I would never have known what the numbers actually said.

The grille and hood emblem/latch are very expensive, so your lucky to have them. The glass isn't really a problem. It's all flat. Just about any auto glass shop can get it.

You got a really nice project there. A lot of people have started with less.

Congrats! We have a winner ;-)

Your 41 is very complete, that is whats most important.
Fiberglass fenders and hoods are available, but steel ones can't be found as replacement or reproductions as far as I know.

Since my front and side windows are not yet mounted I could draw them on paper and mesure them for you so that you have something to take to your local glass shop, if you want.

Best regards,Gab.

Not hard to, it was 15 miles off the pavement. You gotta like the internet! It is a '41 for sure. A friend of mine who was really into "A's" came over and had a quick look. Since he owned a '40 at one time, he said that it definatly not a '40. He did say the motor was a '46 and a pretty good score. Gab, if you wouldn't mind, that would be great. I'll pm you my address.
