Original 66 radio blues

Ok folks,
I know I'm not the only one here. I have removed the face off of the original AM radio that came with the 66 standard cab. After getting the face off and realizing that I would have to cut dash metal to install a good aftermarket, I decided to keep the original. Now I cannot seeem to get the big'ol original radio face back on. What is the secret? I am afraid I am going to break things.....
Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Mike

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Mar-02 AT 12:23 PM (EST)]Mike, when you remove the face you will screw up the dial if not done right!First you must turn the dial all the way to the right to keep everything in order, then remove the two screws. As you remove the face use some pliers and pull the dial shaft also. The shaft will come out and stay with the face! There has been a lot of these faces with the dials ruined because people don't know how to remove them.Did you remove the dial shaft or is it still in the radio?I may not be talking about the same radio though. Is the face chrome and narrow, with black ***** with white centers?

Mike, turn the shaft all the way to the right until it stops and take some pliers and gently pull the shaft out of the radio.try and work the shaft back into the face so the gears will mesh.Hopefully there is not to much damage done and it will go back in.If it goes back in see if your dial works and turn it all the way to the right and carefully reassemble.
