Brake lights always on

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Mar-02 AT 01:29 AM (EST)]Can anybody tell me why my brake lights come on just a little whenever the key is on? Doesn't matter if it's on or accessory. I've checked all the wiring, and found no problems. If I unplug one of the wires from my brake switch (mounted on the master cylinder), they go off. (stock system)

Brake lights always on

Sounds like a faulty switch. My 63 did that, it kept the lights barely on, you couldn't see them unless it was dark. Kept running my battery down. Take a test light, remove the right wire from the switch, ground your test light and then touch it to the open terminal on the switch. If it lights up, your switch is bad, if not, have someone sit in the truck and push the brake, it should light then only. If, it doesn't light either way, plug the wire back up and remove the other one, then repeat the test. My money would be on the switch being bad. They are available at Auto-Zone, they had one in stock for my 63.
