the noise you are describing is coming from the rearend right.hopefully the mechanic has access to all the shims he will need to set the backlash and pinion depth. the only thing you can do is make sure that the rearend has a premiume synth. lube.that about all i can say.ford dosnt even recommend diff. service till100-120k miles.

Mag-Hytec makes one for about $250 that increases capacity, has a magnet to collect metal particles from wear and even has a port to install a temperature sender.
