95 PSD E40D annoying tranny rev when shift/towing...
I recently bought a travel trailer that pulls at 10K lbs.
I've never had a problem with the tranny until I tow.
I pulled it from Salt Lake to New Mexico for a job and I first noticed a slight rev up when shifting. It'll jump a couple hundred rpms for a second, then settle down correctly. I thought I was going to have problems, but she just kept running. Without pulling a load, she runs fine. But...
I recently pulled it back to SLC this week for another job and she did the same with, and now, the problem, while pulling a load, happens occassionally without pulling. It seems to run fine while just cruising through town, but when I give her gas, it's more pronounced.
Any ideas? I hate to bring it into a tranny shop in fear of getting ripped without at least having an idea of the problem.
What do you experts have to say?
Also, if there is a problem, I gather, from reading all the posts, that a simple upgrade to '97 specs and the addition of the 4R100 converter would be a reasonable upgrade for towing. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.
Steve.
