After two weeks of searching all the carlisting sites, I finally found a reasonably priced Ranger. 98 XLT 2.5L 5 speed, in good shape 124K only 2 previous owners. It popped up on Craigslist last night, got it this morning. I still had the cash from when I sold my other Ranger a couple of weeks ago, so it was an easy transaction.
I had found what I thought was a possible truck last night, a 95 ranger with 51000 miles. I talked to the owner who gave me the vin ran it though carfax and found out that it really had 151000 miles. Called owner back with the not so good news. He had only had it for a few weeks, and said the previous owner had bought it at 10,000.
I would be really upset that someone was trying to sell me a faulty vehicle...100k miles is a big HUGE difference for a 4 cylinder...they tend to crap out around 150 easily...good job callign that guy out...
I hope you're right, Ranger Pilot. I just got a new '06 with a stick and a four banger a few months back and I am counting on getting 2 to 300,000 miles out of it before all is said and done. Great little truck so far!

I wouldn't really be concerned about the 150K either, it was the $900 blue book value difference that I was concerned about. Besides while I was finding this out the one that I bought popped up on craigslist.
