XM Radio on stock 2006 Expy head unit?
Just bought my 2006 Expedition, with the 'Audiophile' sound system (satellite capable)... However, it's Sirius-capable, according to the documentation.
I'm an existing XM radio subscriber (with Roady2 receiver!) but would very much like a 'clean' install with this head unit, i.e., would like to get my XM thru the stock radio. It's the 6-disc in-dash audiophile system.
I've read that the XM Direct 'Ford' product will permit such a setup -- i.e., using the stock head unit for full XM radio functionality. Does anyone have any info or experience on this? Can I get XM thru the stock radio with that XM Direct attachment (or some other method?)
Thanks in advance folks.
Regards,
Scott
I just bought the Delphi FM Direct Adapter SA10112 for MyFi, Skyfi 2, Roady 2 and use one of the FM stations. (It's a handy little $25 unit that bypasses the external FM antenna to give you much better FM modulation).
Seems that when a Rear DVD system is installed, on the '03-'06, that accessory interface on the radio head can't be used for an "integrated" satellite radio.
Hope they fixed that in the '07. You'd figure for $40K for a new Expy EB, that you could get BOTH Rear DVD AND integrated XM !!!!
