Tailgate

I just bought myself a new project truck, a 1965 Ford F-100 2wd shortbox minus a tailgate. Just wanted to check if anybody out there has a tailgate (preferably a yellow one so it matches the stock, worn yellow paint) for a similar truck. Plus, this truck has a dana 60 in the back instead of a Ford 9 inch. Any ideas as why this could be? Thanks!

Newer (1970s) tailgates fit exactly the same, but the lettering font is different. They also repro these, but not the 'correct' 1960s version.
I think you'll quickly give up on the paint match option, as very few Slicks were painted yellow.

I have a very good tailgate but it is in Oregon and even if I gave it to you the shipping would be a killer. Keep an eye on the classifieds. There is a link in the header above this thread. Good luck and welcome.

I've seen the D60 in a swb half-ton ordered for towing. It had a 352, auto, D60 with limited slip, and no other options. It had a strange DSO but that might be irrelevant...

Actually it can be a Dana 44 which looks similar to the 60. And is prevelant in Mid sixties Ford trucks

Post the axle code on the warranty plate

my 64 f-100 has a d60 rear end. It was a special order. If you wanted limited slip in your truck they would put a 5 lug dana 60 under it.
