I purchased my 2004 F450 this week. I've been reviewing the owners manual. I've also been driving it around town. I've owned Suburban, Ford F250. Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 , and S10. This truck is in a class by itself. This is my first diesel truck. I've owned a couple of diesel tractors, so I'm not a diesel virgin. I'm impressed with the power. I'm impressed with the fuel consumption, considering the size and the power this truck has. I needed something this big to haul my fifth wheel which will max out at 18000. I never thought I'd feel this strongly about a truck, but this is one impressive vehicle. Considering what my options were, Freightliner, Kodiak, or the illusive 2005 F350 w/4:30 rear end, for the money this was and is the best thing I could have found. I'm happy with it.
It also garners a lot of attention from other big truck owners. It is pretty rare to see a truck like this with a pickup bed and not a commercial bed. It's pretty too. I'm proud to own my Ford F450.
