Oil pressure gauge problem
I know the guage is a dummy.
But..
It used to read in the middle, at least. Progressively, it has moved less and less upon engine start. Now I can barely see if it moved at all. What might cause that to change? Can a resistor increase in resistance as it progressively fails?
I would probably tolerate that if there was also a low oil pressure idiot light (to get my teenager's attention) but there isn't.
So, I want to both fix the gauge (I found some help at http://rogueperformance.com/oilsw.html) and add an idiot light. I know I can do it with a relay in the gauge wire, and connect an LED through the NC contacts, but does anyone know how to do the same with a transistor / inverter so I don't run a relay whenever the engine is on?
Will keep you posted on what I have to do....
