I've gotten more involved with swapping the '73 radiator support into my '68 and have discovered a couple of differences besides the extra holes and the wider radiator opening that will require modification: 1) on each side there is one bolt hole per inner fender panel that does not exist, and 2) the nutserts for the '68 hood latch at the top of the panel are completely different on the '73 panel. To remedy the first problem I will drill a hole on each side and weld nuts onto the panel (I could probably do without these bolts but I'm going to put them in anyway). On the second I've decided it's easiest just to cut out the center 8" or so of the top of my '68 panel where the latch mounts and weld it into the '73 panel.
So to anyone contemplating putting that pristine '73-up panel into your '68'72 be forewarned that it is not exactly "bolt-in".

You've got that right - won't even fit into the 74 model without special drilling that I found out about last summer when doing my 460 swap. After drilling though, it fits like a charm....I topped it off with a new factory fan shroud for the 460.
I put a radiator support out of about a 73 or 74 into my 70 model. I thought that this was quite an easy swap. I had to drill 2 holes for the hood latch. this was very simple. after i had them drilled i simply slid one of those clips on it and put bolts in it. i definatley wouldn't cut out the top of the old and weld into the new one. thats crazy. just drill 2 holes
i think i need to lay the whiz wheel down for a second and take another look at the latch mount -- ideal, your way sounds a lot easier! I don't know why but I like to overcomplicate things for some reason . . .
