I'm having trouble finding info on how the front fenders of a 1/2 ton actually are mounted.. My cab cowl had to be rebuilt, so I have limited mounting holes in existance..
Can anyone answer:
1. How many bolts hold the front fenders to the cowl..
2. Where do the little fender brackets actually bolt into the cowl..
3. Does anyone have a site or "softcopy" of a graphic showing where/how they mount to the cowl, or a picture that they can send me?
I just removed my front fenders a couple of months ago, I'll try to get some pics of the cowl today and post them for you, is it just the cowl you're looking for or the frame rails an inner fenders too ? Also, you should have some indication from the holes in your fenders ??
Here are some pics of the mounting of the front fenders to the cowl:
There are three attachment points. the two bottom ones bolt directly to the cowl, the top one to a small barcket and then to the cowl.
I'd noticed the hole in the flange of my '40 fenders and no hole in the cowl of my '46 cab. Now I know that there should be a hole there and I'll drill one and add the fastener. I'd thought that it could use some support in that spot. I've never seen this addressed anywhere but I'm certainly grateful that I can now add this fastening with a clear conscience (at least as clear as someone using a '46 cab to make a '40 PU can have). The front end has to come off again to add welting and fit-up some engine and steering details so I'll do it then. The cab and fenders are in paint but they will be covered and I'll be careful and coat the edges afterward. Thanks for the heads-up.
