Anyone with a parts book?
Maybe could tell me if '42-'47 front shock mounts are the same that came on the '48-50 F1 trucks?
Reason I ask is the original front mounts are not on my '42.
If anyone has a parts book that could at least give me the part number, then I could repost on the '48-60 forum for the same info.

'42-47's used lever action shocks.
That being said, the '48-52 axle is the factory replacement for the '42-47 and is identical except that it has a built-in lower-shock mount boss.
I ran a dropped F-1 axle with '48-52 shocks & mounts for a number of years in my '45.

There isn't an upper shock mount. The arm, sometimes called a dog bone, connects between the arm on the Houdaille shock and the shock/rubber bumper bracket on the axle. Those parts are 42-47 specific. You can use the passenger style tube shock bracket to add tube shocks to these trucks. That's what I have on my trucks...big improvment over the Houdaille shocks.

I see...see, on my '42, someone bolted some type of mount on the frame and then installed a regular shock.
So, maybe they just used the original holes? I dunno, I'll have to look closer.
Does the original shock attach with two holes to the frame?

The original shock just bolts right to the 2 holes in the frame. There were many aftermarket adaptor for putting tube style shocks on, most probably used the original mounting holes.
