Anyone else hate the show Pinks?

I have watched that show a couple of times, and each time I watch it I start to yell at the T.V. These guys sign up for the show, sign over the car's title after being given a chance to bow out, and then proceed to whine like children after they lose!
On the show tonight, the guy with the Nova wanted 12 car lengths! Why not just put him at the finish line? Then he complained that the guy in the Camaro was backing off. So what? You still lost by a car length, in 3 straight races. He said that he had problems and he didn't have a good tune-up on the car. So whose fault is that? Boo-frickety-Hoo.

I understand that these guys don't want to lose their cars, but if that's the case, don't sign up for the show and sign it over. Oh well, rant over.

Never saw it but dont ever plan on watching it either. You are a flaming fool to put your blood, money, time and sweat into something just to sign the title and put everything you put into it on the line, hanging in the balance of 1 race where so many variables exist. As far as I am concerned, if you do that, lose and proceed to be a little beeyotch about it crying and stuff than you deserve to recieve a record breaking beeyotch slap and a massive kick in the seat of your pants.

I saw it tonight for the first time, The 12 lengths was without the NOS bottle, 4 with, and still lost by just as much. They have to win 3 races before losing their car. Still wouldn't do it myself, have known a few people that did do such, and got lucky. So many little things can go wrong, not worth it to me.

12 lengths without NOS or not, that Nova was slow enough that you could time it with a calendar. It also smoked more than my grandpa used to. Then the guy started making excuse after excuse, and it happens every time I watch the show.
It amazing how our "boys" get us guys into more and more trouble every day.

Ive watched it a couple of times and didnt think much of the show. Im not a fan of watching grown men argue like a couple of little kids and then whine and cry when they dont get their way.

I like the show. It's a real, reality show. Sure the guys are whining about real or perceived advantages the other guy may have, but if your car was on the line, don't you think things woulf get real, like that, pretty quick?

Lot's of passion, nothing phoney, baloney, so far, that I can see. Maybe I'm being duped.

On the other hand, that other Speed, show, Texas Hardtails, was awful.

I have a couple of motorcycles, started riding in '65, but I have to say, if I see another one of those chopper shows, where every guy on the show has the same uniform, you know, ponytail, tattoos out the ying -yang, phoney baloney, tough guy 'biker' attitude, tear-offs,the usual crapola..I gonna toss my cookies.

I actually like a show like Overhauling, where Chip Foose seems to run a normal shop and be a normal guy, unlike many of those other dysfunctional vehicle shows.

Well do you expect the guy to race heads up when his car is obviously slower?

And how can you judge how many car lengths for a fair race if the other guy backs off?

Think if you were on the show, wouldn't you want a fair race? They always start high and negotiate to a reasonable amount, thats part of the show.

And lesmore, I agree on the texas hardtails show.. thats the one were everything is obviously staged and fake, right? I can't stand that show.

Overhauling is a good show too.

I may be straying off topic a bit, but what do you think about American Choppers? I like that show a lot, even though some of it might be kind of fake. I like the bikes they build, they aren't necessarily the most beaufitul bikes, but they stay on theme and convey what the buyers wants very well i think. Paul Jr. is pretty talented and does a good job on the designs.

I like the show in that it is entertainment only. I like the aspect of put up or shut up. The show is not always about the better car but the strategy played by the contestants.

I have read on other forums that at least with season 1, it may not have always been real in that the loser actually lost the ride. A few credible accusation were that the first few episodes were stage to gauge viewership numbers and nobody lost their ride. Something about a $1 buyback clause for the loser.

As for "Texas Hardtails" the end credits on the show even state it is heavy embellishment of "some" actual events. Advertisement for it was vague and many thought it was a "reality" show and when viewed that way, could be confused.

I agree, I thought it was staged too much and I realize they indicated that before the show started.

Overhauling is a good show too.

I am not as interested in American Choppers as I once was. I find the yelling/screaming a bit too much. I read a story where a local waitress, said that Paul Jr/Sr. come down to her restaurant for lunch/coffee and are actually nice, quiet customers, so maybe some of the fireworks are staged for "good tv"?

I think Paul jr., has some real talent as do some of the other workers.
As you, I don't find the bikes particularly beautiful, but then I'm more of a '60's British Desert Sled /Cafe Racer fan.
But I do appreciate the amount of work and skill they put into the bikes. Craftsmanship from what I see, seems to be very good.

Last night i watched where a 79 Capri(read mustang) and a 65 Galaxie Raced. I think the most either car got was 1/2 length, and the first race was heads up, both cars off the bottle. I was impressed with the galaxy, it was beating the stang heads up, with the stang on the bottle and the galaxy on all motor. One race the stang lost by a mile because he forgot to open the bottle

Oh I don't mind if they race heads up or even within 1 length, but when they ask for 12 or more, then you shouldn't be racing that car because you obviously need to do more work on it to make it competetive.

I have a 1972 Pontiac Ventura II (read-Nova), and it's pretty quick. I've raced my friend in his 1972 Ventura II and beat him easily. But even as fast as my car is, I would never go on a show where the prize was my car and all the hard work I've put into it.

Bottom line is, if you need to bet on a race and you lose, the stakes shouldn't be so high that you whine and make excuses as to why you lost. You should just be able to say, "wow, you've got a fast car there", and walk away like a man, not a child.
