ok...my neighbor is selling his truck. it's a 1999 f150 flareside. it's 4wd (off-road), has a body lift, 33" tires with centerline rims, magnaflow exhaust, 4.6 triton with auto tranny, and is in really good shape. i know it's been well taken care of, and it looks great except for a small scratch that is about 2 1/2" long on the bed. it has somewhat high miles (150,000 miles) but it runs great...nothing wrong with it. he is wanting $6500 for it and i thought that this was a good deal, but i don't know...the newest truck i have is a 95 my dad bought new. can anyone help me out with this?
Yeah, that price sounds right for the truck you described. And sound like a fine truck at that. Just don't be suprised if you find that, like with any other comparable used truck, you may from time to time be doing regular maitainance i.e. u-joints, tie rods, ball joints, starter, brakes, etc. Lifts and oversize tires are nice for a while but they increase wear on suspension and chasis parts and are hard on fuel milage.
yeah i was talking to him today and he told me that it booked for 9500 without the lift...i think it's an XLT...i dont think i mentioned that. i'd like to get it...but as always there is alway a issue with money, lol. my dad is in Iowa and he's telling me that he's gonna buy a truck out there (he working there) and drive it home. thanks for the reply

Matt,
You may wanna tell him to rething that. I live in Iowa and we still use SALT on the roads. If he does find one tell him to look it over good. Especially around the body seems and under the bed....rust here gets pretty bad. Not to mention it doesn't sound like he will get a better deal here in Iowa than what you describe.
i was talking to him (he's in council bluffs) and he told me there is a 99 f250 xlt 7.3psd extended cab 4x4 with 75,000 miles for 9k...i haven't checked KBB...but i thought this was a really good deal. i'll be sure to talk to him about the spots you mentioned...i know you get alot of snow up there!
$6500 for a '99 is not bad at all. I bought mine from my dad's buddy and paid only $6000 for it, it's a 97 lariat and bought had somewhat high milage 170000 when I got it. Mine is 4.6l 4x4 auto w/ no problems. Now I have 178000 on it. That is after 4 months.
